Inspiration: Some of my favorite farmers

Looking for inspiration on the Internets for your garden and yard? I prefer folks who are quiet talkers, self-deprecating and into experiments. Here are a few of my favorite experts:

  • Edible Acres Permaculture nursery in upstate New York. Videos cover propagation, composting, chicken care, cooking, storing, creating ponds and waterways, as well as growing annuals and perennials in a small-scale system. I love the hosts’ talking about what works and what doesn’t.

  • No-Till Growers A group channel highlighting the ups and downs of using the no-till system. Due to hard-packed clay and granite it’s the system that I’ve decided to use for the expansion of the garden. Kentucky-based Farmer Jesse looks for low-cost simple solutions I’m excited to implement in the future.

  • Self Sufficient Me Aussie gardener Mark showcases his huge citrus orchard, thriving garden and small-scale poultry operations. He includes ways to use fresh produce and live a more sustainable life. He’s also a fun goof.

  • Plant Kween Christopher serves a load of positivity and self care along with indoor plant care. I’m one step up from awful at indoor plant care, so his tips help me remember what these “green gurls” need.
